A Perfect Day on The Danforth

Escape Games are a great accompaniment for a fun day. First, you have an excuse to get friends together and second, you have something to talk about after your experience. When booking your game at ‘The Danforth Escape’, I encourage you to plan your own perfect day around it.
I have a lot of customers ask me where they can go to grab a drink or dinner after a game. I also have lots of people ask where they can continue celebrating a birthday or get together after a game. Part of my goal was to locate our venue in my own community because The Danforth is going through so many positive changes these days. I really wanted to be a part of it and make a difference. There are some real hidden gems on our stretch.. here are just a few:
Time Capsule Board Game Cafe
Like out of a dream Time Capsule recently appeared! The owners are fantastic and committed to the neighbourhood. There is a lot of space where you can be accommodated for larger crowds, parties with kids etc. There is a wide variety of video games, board games, pool table, ping pong table and a pinball machine (still working on beating the high score).  Our customers get a discount so please make sure to call to enquire. Reservations for larger groups are recommended. Now Licenced!!
Face to Face Games
A board game store, hot spot to learn and play Magic The Gathering with a cafe serving delightful foods, drinks, FREE boardgame play as well as cards and games to purchase. This is a neighbourhood favourite for shopping and visiting. Great for families who want to try a new board game. I often buy my board games from here- you can get a full lesson on how to play and help picking out just the right game. As someone who loves games, this is one of my favourite spots along the Danforth.
Viking Bakery
Great spot to pick up a coffee and some treats for yourself and the kids. Lots of options for breads and traditional Icelandic baked goods. If you’re hosting dinner after our game, pick up some bread and desserts to present to your guests. They will thank you for the efforts!
Relish Bar and Grill
One word.. “Tapas”. Who doesn’t love tapas! My Husband and I have vastly different tastes in food. We love Relish because we can order many different dishes and try them all! A quaint and cozy space  that has excellent food, a variety of great drinks and that cool, laid back east-end vibe. Keep in mind that seating is limited and live music is often scheduled so I would certainly call to enquire.
Local 1794
Insider tip-If you know the name you know their address 😉 This place is nice!! Really, really nice. It was at this location that I presented my business idea to DECA (The Danforth East Community Association). I was so impressed that I vowed to return for one of those wood fired pizzas… but alas, I have my own business so don’t get out much. I encourage you to visit though. It’s nearby and a great spot to grab a drink, some food and have a chat.
A new brunch spot right by us! Known for their eggs benny and delicious coffee, this is a must try! Why not book an early escape and schedule a brunch right after? I can’t think of a more perfect start to your day. I also noticed they also have take out!!
Melanie’s Bistro
Another local favourite open for brunch, lunch and dinner. They even have a prix fixe dinner! Melanie’s has been with us along The Danforth for quite some time so they are quite established and doing lots right.
Quattro 4 Regazze
Pizza, hot sandwiches and classic Italian fare- I think this place counts as a hidden gem since I only just heard about it. They even book private parties! I might grab lunch there.. like right now 😉
Magic Oven Danforth
Family friendly! Great for any vegetarians or vegans dining with their omnivore friends.
The Wren
A great selection of craft beers, cocktails and delish foods. This is a must try and if you don’t make it here before or after a game, it’s worth a visit just to go back! PS- if you follow them on instagram you’ll want to dine here every day!
This is one of my favourite spots. The food is always amazing along with the atmosphere! The space is roomy and comfy with just a hint of fancy.
I know there are so many more and these are just a few of many great choices. I had a little help asking some neighbourhood groups on facebook for their recommendations. Please continue with your suggestions as I will continue to update this page and if you have any recommendations and comments please email me! info@lookingglassadventures.com.
If you need help planning an event such as a birthday party, get together or celebration around our game please just ask! We have hosted some fun events here and it has been a really memorable experience.
