Escape Room Tourism: Why We Always Play Escape Rooms When We Travel
Our summer 2026 trip to Montreal
Have you ever made a point of visiting an escape room while travelling to a new city?
For us as escape room owners, it's practically a tradition. But in recent years, escape room tourism has become increasingly popular among players around the world.
At Looking Glass Adventures, we've welcomed enthusiasts from across Canada, the United States, Europe, and beyond. Many have sought us out because of our reputation within the escape room community, through recommendations in the Escape Room Enthusiasts Facebook Group, reviews on Morty, or connections made through industry meetups and conventions such as Transworld Halloween and Attraction Show or IAAPA. These types of communities have helped connect owners and players with incredible escape room experiences across the globe.
Escape room travel has grown so much that organized tours now exist in several major markets, bringing players together to experience some of the world's most creative games. Room Escape Artist was one of the first enthusiast tours and from what we’ve seen continues to grow in popularity while other tours start to spring up.
Whether you're joining a structured tour or simply looking for unique attractions during your travels, seeking out local escape rooms is a fantastic way to experience a destination from a different perspective.
Every venue has its own style, storytelling approach, and puzzle design. Playing games in different regions introduces you to fresh ideas, memorable themes, and experiences you simply won't find anywhere else.
Our first visit to Escaparium in Montreal
Most recently, our family visited Montreal. Naturally, one of the first things on our itinerary was a visit to Escaparium, one of Canada's most acclaimed escape room companies. We played two of their games, including one that has earned industry awards and recognition over multiple years.
We had an amazing experience. But what makes these trips special isn't just the escape rooms—it's everything that surrounds them. We explored museums, wandered through Old Montreal, sampled great restaurants, and simply enjoyed spending time together as a family in one of Canada's most beautiful and historic cities.
As a family-owned business ourselves, we thought it was time to share a little more about who we are beyond the puzzles. Over the coming months we'll be posting more about our escape room adventures, travel experiences, behind-the-scenes stories, and the inspiration we bring back to Looking Glass Adventures in Toronto.
If you're planning a vacation or even a weekend getaway, consider adding an escape room to your itinerary. You might discover a hidden gem, meet fellow enthusiasts, and create memories you'll be talking about long after your trip is over.
And if your travels bring you to Toronto, we'd love to welcome you to Looking Glass Adventures and show you why so many escape room travellers have made us one of their must-play destinations.
